Yukon Gear is a large portion of my hunting clothes. For 2015 they have come out with many new styles for women, including the Waylay Outer layer Pants and the matching Women’s 1/4 Zip Base layer top. Paired together, you have an attractive but functional hunting outfit.

“To waylay is to lie in wait and intercept unexpectedly”¹, and the  Yukon Gear Waylay Outer Layers give you the ability to do that in comfort. The Women’s Waylay Outer Layer Pants are made of a Poly Spandex, Knit blend that is windproof, water resistant and breathable. They are designed to fit a women’s body, and have generous pockets, including for hand warmers, cargo pockets and rear seat pockets. The removable suspenders use carabiners to attach to the pants, they are easy to attach, and if you lose one, you can replace them just about anywhere. The knee height zippers make getting in and out of your boots easy, and can be snapped shut for ventilation. For comfort in the cold weather, they have been fleece lined. Sizes are available from small to 2XL. They come in a Break-Up Country Camo and tan combination, accented with pink.

The Women’s 1/4 Zip Base Layer top is made of moisture wicking brushed polyester, and can be worn as either a base layer or on its own. It is designed to keep you dry and warm, has a welded sleeve pocket, perfect for your cell phone or hunting license. The sleeves sport thumb loops to do double duty keeping your hands warm and protected. The sizes range from small to 2XL and comes in a matching coloration to the Waylay Pants. The Break Up County Camo is paired with tan and is trimmed with pink.

I have been wearing the set for early archery. The cut and material moves well with you, without binding. I have been climbing treestands and busting through brush, with not restriction and no snagging. I also don’t hesitate to wear the 1/4 zip top with my jeans as a casual look, and get compliments when I do! During a recent squirrel hunt, my daughter borrowed my clothes, she is a smaller build then I am, and the pants and top fit her just fine. There is a Waylay jacket that would complete the outfit, that is on my list for next year!

Yukon Gear Parka and Bibs

28 11 2014

yukon gear logoI spent much of last year’s hunting season in the snow and cold weather. I was able to ward off the cold temperatures by layering my clothing, and for my outer layer, I chose Yukon Gear. There is not much of a variety of winter wear for women is available in my area, but Yukon Gear is and has been a great choice.

I hunted both the first and second firearm season in Illinois. On some days the wind chill was well below zero and almost every day I had to contend with snow. I have been wearing the Yukon Gear Ladies Insulated Bib Overalls for several years now and this year I added the Ladies 3N1 Insulated Parka. The wind chill was brutal, but other than my face, my body stayed warm. In fact I didn’t leave the stand from morning till night, which would not have been possible if I were feeling the effects of the freezing temperatures. I also hunted in Pennsylvania from the beginning of archery through the end of firearm season. In that time we had rain, cold, snow, sleet and even hot weather. Other than when the weather was unseasonably hot, my Yukon Gear was with me in one combination or another. The parka has ample room in the shoulder/chest area to make shouldering your gun or crossbow easy and quiet. Next up for the parka is salmon fishing, which just saying that, is enough to make it rain. I am not to worried, I will stay dry.

The Insulated Bib Overalls are windproof, waterproof and breathable. They have front pockets big enough to fit cold hands into, and the zippered leg openings have a zipper large enough to grasp with cold or gloved hands. The fabric they are made of is lightweight, durable, quiet for hunting, and most importantly; WARM. They come in sizes small, medium, large and extra-large. I found I have had to purchase a size smaller than I would normally to fit. The Ladies 3N1 Insulated Parka is a 3 season must have. Like the bibs, the parka is windproof, waterproof, and breathable in its outer parka shell. The shell is attractive with the Breakup Infinity pattern trimmed with green accents. The 3N1 part is what makes this multi-function parka system a must have. You can wear the outer shell as a raincoat, wear the zip-in insulated inner jacket as a light, but warm jacket or zip the inner jacket into the outer shell and you have a parka made for winter. They come in sizes small, medium, large and extra-large. Again, I had to get 1 size smaller than usual to fit.
