How often has patching your favorite jacket been fun? With Gear Aid’s Tenacious Tape Tattoos, you can achieve a good strong patch and bring some fun to your coat. There are two patterns to choice from: Wildlife and Happy Camper.

The Tattoos are made using Tenacious Tape, which is an ultra-strong repair tape. These fun shaped tattoos can be used to patch clothing, luggage, boots, waders, tents, or other outdoor/indoor equipment. They can patch a tear in your favorite clothes, cover up the stain that you are unsure how it got there, patch your tent, or act as an abrasion patch. They can also be used to personalize anything from your favorite coffee mug to your cell phone case. These tattoos are different from ordinary stickers; they use ultra-aggressive adhesive that won’t peel or lift. The adhesive continues to strengthen over time. The Tenacious Tape Tattoos stay in place in all-weather conditions and environments. They will adhere to almost any surface, and with their clean-adhesive technology, they can be removed when needed, without leaving behind a sticky mess. Once the tattoos are in place, they are machine washable. To prep for using the tattoos, you need to clean the area with isopropyl alcohol.

The Wildlife package includes silhouettes of: wolf, bison, fish, buck, bear, eagle, and several tracks and leaves. The Happy Camper package includes: squirrel, moon and stars, pine tree, campfire, Sasquatch, tent, cloud and rain drops, and several leaves and acorns. Between the two packages, there can be so much creativity!

I have used the Tenacious Tape Tattoos on several different applications. I adorned my grandson’s cell phone case with a wolf to add his own personalization. My granddaughter’s back pack was also personalized with a buck’s head, and I patched a slight tear in my new rain coat with a bear. I have only had the raincoat for a couple of months, so I was glad to be able to patch and personalize at the same time. I also put bear tracks on my cell phone; hopefully, now I will not mistakenly pick up another cell phone that looks like mine! I have always used McNett products to patch my waders, but this year they will be getting a fresh new look with the fun designs that are offered. I also envision my grandson’s jeans sporting several of the shapes, to cover the wear and tear on his pants. I am going to have fun converting some worn items into useful products once again!

From phone cases, to backpacks to raingear, Tenacious Tape Tattoos can fix rips, tears and holes, or just add a bit of fun and personalization. Photo: Diane Hassinger

HSS Lifeline 2015

14 11 2015

hss logoDid you know that 86% of tree stand accidents happen while getting in or out of the tree stand? If you had a way to minimize the risk, would you take it? I know I would! I am a long time proponent of the Hunter Safety System’s Lifeline, and for 2015, they have made them even better!

The HSS Lifeline now has reflective material woven into the rope, HSS-RECON carabiner and the new HSS-COWBELL sound dampeners. Photo: HSS

Photo: HSS

The Lifeline is made with a heavy-duty rope that ties off to the tree above the tree stand and extends to where it is tied off near the base of the tree, usually on the ladder or climbing sticks. New for 2015, the Lifeline has woven reflective material into the rope, which lights up at the slightest ray of light from your flashlight. This makes locating your stand easy, and the reflective material is only visible from the direction of the light.  All Lifelines accommodate tree stands up to thirty feet high. The Prussic knot enables the user to be attached to the Lifeline by the harness tether strap and the supplied HSS-RECON carabiner and the new HSS-COWBELL sound dampeners. The user slides the knot up the tree as they climb the ladder keeping them safe from a fall. No more worries when you move from the ladder to the stand or while you attach your tree strap. The Lifeline can be left attached to the tree for the entire hunting season, but it should be checked every two weeks for signs of deterioration or damage by rodents, such as squirrels.

While on a recent hunt, I was hiking in to a stand that I am not familiar with. I had installed my Lifeline the night before, so I knew I just needed to scan the area to be able to pick out the tree stand. As soon as my light came in contact with the Lifeline’s reflective material, it was as if someone turned on the Christmas tree lights! As bright as these appeared, I knew that nothing else could see them, unless they were directly beside me.

It is hard to get a good picture of what I see! Photo: Diane Hassinger

It is hard to get a good picture of what I see!
Photo: Diane Hassinger

The reflective material is not visible from the sides or back, just where the flashlight  beam comes in contact with them.  As helpful as this is, I look at that as a bonus. The real value of the Lifeline is that I can feel confident climbing, even the most difficult of climbing sticks or getting into the most awkward of stands. With the multiple surgeries I have had for breast cancer, sometimes I don’t have the upper body strength needed to pull myself into some of these stands gracefully. At no point do I feel exposed to danger while utilizing the Lifeline. The HSS Lifeline keeps you safe from falls, simplifies your set up in the stand each day, and gives you peace at mind that you may not even realize until it is not there! I have hunted without my Lifeline only once since I got my first one, several years ago. I was so uncomfortable, I am sure my mind was not on hunting. The funny part was that I was still attached to a tree strap, but I needed to hook into that strap at the top; I felt very vulnerable maneuvering in the tree stand. I have never forgotten my Lifeline again!

While trying to get a good picture for this review, I had a family member come out with me. They kept saying “I can’t see it, I can’t see it.” They were several feet to the side of me at the time. I had them come directly in front of me, and all of a sudden “WOW” they could see what I was talking about. The Lifeline was lit up like a string of Christmas lights from my small pocket flashlight. Amazing!!

HSS Lifelines can be purchased directly from HSS at http://www.huntersafetysystem.com/hss-lifeline/, or can be found at many of the larger sporting goods shops across the country. For the MSRP of only $39.95, put one in each of your stands!

YPOD Shooting Rest

14 11 2015
ypod shooting rest logoDo you lug out a lead weighted shooting sled each time you target shoot? How about shooting sticks that are 4-5 feet high? I used to, but now I can pop my YPod into my shooting bag, along with my ammo, safety glasses, and ear muffs!
The YPod is made using machine grade plastic injection molding. You can easily and noiselessly adjust the height of the shooting rest from seven to eleven inches, making it perfect for any size shooting or caliber of firearm. The adjustment is achieved by just twisting the Y, while holding the base stationary. You can also change the direction of the shot the same way.
There is no assembly required; you can use the YPod right out of the box. The unit is small enough to fit in your hunting backpack for transport into the woods.  It can also be used on a shooting rail and has a rubberized strap that holds your rifle/crossbow in the V of the rest.

I have been using mine for both sighting in and practicing out of the tree stand. The YPod enables me to have the stability to make the shots I need. Using the YPod while practicing is as simple as setting the unit on your shooting bench, adjusting the height, and shooting! As with any shooting rest, I keep my left hand on the stand to maintain stability while shooting.

The YPod will be getting lots of use in the upcoming months! My tree stand is located in an area that both myself and granddaughter will be hunting throughout archery and rifle seasons. We have well established trails that will enable both short and long shots; stability is not going to be a problem!

Yukon Gear Parka and Bibs

28 11 2014

yukon gear logoI spent much of last year’s hunting season in the snow and cold weather. I was able to ward off the cold temperatures by layering my clothing, and for my outer layer, I chose Yukon Gear. There is not much of a variety of winter wear for women is available in my area, but Yukon Gear is and has been a great choice.

Yukon Gear kept me warm and dry all thru hunting season, and allowed me freedom of movement while remaining quiet! Photo: Diane Hassinger

Yukon Gear kept me warm and dry all thru hunting season, and allowed me freedom of movement while remaining quiet!
Photo: Diane Hassinger

I hunted both the first and second firearm season in Illinois. On some days the wind chill was well below zero and almost every day I had to contend with snow. I have been wearing the Yukon Gear Ladies Insulated Bib Overalls for several years now and this year I added the Ladies 3N1 Insulated Parka. The wind chill was brutal, but other than my face, my body stayed warm. In fact I didn’t leave the stand from morning till night, which would not have been possible if I were feeling the effects of the freezing temperatures. I also hunted in Pennsylvania from the beginning of archery through the end of firearm season. In that time we had rain, cold, snow, sleet and even hot weather. Other than when the weather was unseasonably hot, my Yukon Gear was with me in one combination or another. The parka has ample room in the shoulder/chest area to make shouldering your gun or crossbow easy and quiet. Next up for the parka is salmon fishing, which just saying that, is enough to make it rain. I am not to worried, I will stay dry.

The Insulated Bib Overalls are windproof, waterproof and breathable. They have front pockets big enough to fit cold hands into, and the zippered leg openings have a zipper large enough to grasp with cold or gloved hands. The fabric they are made of is lightweight, durable, quiet for hunting, and most importantly; WARM. They come in sizes small, medium, large and extra-large. I found I have had to purchase a size smaller than I would normally to fit. The Ladies 3N1 Insulated Parka is a 3 season must have. Like the bibs, the parka is windproof, waterproof, and breathable in its outer parka shell. The shell is attractive with the Breakup Infinity pattern trimmed with green accents. The 3N1 part is what makes this multi-function parka system a must have. You can wear the outer shell as a raincoat, wear the zip-in insulated inner jacket as a light, but warm jacket or zip the inner jacket into the outer shell and you have a parka made for winter. They come in sizes small, medium, large and extra-large. Again, I had to get 1 size smaller than usual to fit.

Stik N Shoot Magnetic Lighting System

28 11 2014

logoI have night hunted in the past, mainly for alligators and hogs. On a recent trip to South Africa we were hunting on a damage control permit for a large agricultural farm and producer of pepper, melons, tomatoes and oranges. Legal species to take at night included the bushpig, bushbuck, duiker and porcupine. My primary target was the bushbuck and my equipment included the Stik N Shoot.

The water-resistant Stik N Shoot Magnetic Lighting System is a 200 lumen LED light that operates on 3 AAA batteries to provide 4 hours of continuous use. The light is attached to you rifle or shotgun with a 3″ magnetic block, which uses 4 N42 magnets that provide 108 pounds of magnetic pressure. This unit mounts the light to the firearm and keeps the light securely in place.

You can add a pressure switch assembly so you can easily turn the light on with minimal hand movement, and only when you need it. There is also a stabilizer extension, which will take your Stik N Shoot from the firearms to the crossbow simply and easily. Just replace the main bolt with the stabilizer extension and the magnetic block firmly attaches for your next night hunting adventure.

The Stik N Shoot installed on a crossbow. Photo: Stik N Shoot

When I received the Stik N Shoot, the first thing I noticed was how well made everything was. This was not a cheaply made plastic product, but a well designed and produced light and attachment, using only quality materials. I put the Stik N Shoot on the stabilizer extension for my crossbow, I needed both hands to remove it! This was not going to come off during normal or even extreme hunting conditions!

In South Africa we road in “bakkies” that were Land Cruisers modified to have seats mounted in the back of the truck, elevated so that your view is unobstructed. We drove around looking for eyes glowing in the night. Our guides were able to determine which animal the eyes belonged to and if it was a shooter or not. While most “eyes” were around 20 to 30 yards outs, we did illuminate a duiker that was out approximately 50 yards.

The green light did not spook the animals at all. Many types of animals were illuminated including; bushpig, porcupine, duiker, steenbuck, kudu, impala, nyala, jackals, spring hare and of course bushbuck. When I had the opportunity to shoot my bushbuck, the light clearly lit up the area my gun was aiming for. Stik N Shoot was there when harvesting of my first bushbuck. I can’t wait to try this on gators and hogs this fall. Just like the Stik N Shoot website claims, “They will never know what hit ’em.”

The Stik N Shoot has a one-year limited-warranty and you can order Stik N Shoot for the MSRP of $199.95 (green or white light), and you can add the Pressure Switch (green only) for $25.95 and the Stabilizer Extension for $27.95. All of these can be purchased at http://www.stiknshoot.com/products/.

Bear Trap by Insights Nutrition

28 11 2014

insights nutrition logo 2People in North America have been hunting bear for hundreds of years. Now there is a new attractant to help with those hunts; Insights Nutrition’s Bear Trap.

Bear Trap in its very easy to use, pourable gallon bottle.

This new pourable attractant is berry sweet syrup made with real sugar but no unnecessary chemical fillers. Bear Trap comes in a convenient 1 gallon, pourable container, which is both easy to transport and use. The Insights Nutrition website touts “BEAR TRAP™, the irresistible sweet syrup that Draws ’em in – Keeps ’em in.”

We started several bait sites in Saskatchewan and topped them off with the Bear Trap syrup. I noticed immediately how good it smelled and could not resist sticking my finger into the syrup and sampling just a bit. It was delicious! I almost decided to hoard some to pour over ice cream, but this is bear bait, not Diane bait! I poured a small amount at the base of a pine tree near my stand, away from the bait site, just to see if this product was drawing them in or was it the combination of flavors. Time after time I witnessed bears coming into the bait, then turning and walk directly to the pine tree and lick the syrup from the base. As the bears would leave the area, they were spreading a scent trail throughout the forest with the syrup that clung to their paws, drawing more bear into the sites.

In one day of sitting on stand, I saw 11 different bears come in and sample our offering; most came in multiple times. Checking the trail camera pictures, there were new bear coming in every couple of days and still the others made sure to come in. This was fast becoming our hottest stand.

The morning of the 3rd day, I unintentionally chased a big cinnamon color phase boar off  the bait when I came into the stand. I had a good feeling he would be back for more Bear Trap. I settled into my tree stand and waited.

Just an hour and a half later, a black sow came in and I felt the cinnamon boar would be close on her heels. Not more than 30 seconds later, sure enough, here came my boar. Soon both bears settled in to eat their fill of bait and lap up more syrup off of their paws. When the proper shot was presented, I took my shot and my cinnamon boar was truly mine. Three days later, a 7’ chocolate color phase boar was taken off of the same stand and, yet again, early the following week another near 7′ cinnamon boar was also taken at the same site; 3 trophy bears in just 8 days at the same site! Bear Trap was proving its effectiveness.

The MSRP on the gallon size of Bear Trap is $11.99 and can be purchased at http://www.InSightsNutrition.com. For more information go to http://www.insightsnutrition.com/#!bear-products/c8iv.

McNett PT Pod and Ultra Compact Microfiber Towels

28 11 2014

mcnett outgo logo 2If you spend time in the woods and outdoors you will find more and more uses for the McNett Outgo microfiber towels. I used them on a recent trip, and they became my go to towels for just about everything!

The PT Pod made a great addition to my hunting pack, providing extra warmth and drying lens and scopes. Photo: Diane Hassinger

The PT Pod made a great addition to my hunting pack, providing extra warmth and drying lens and scopes. Photo: Diane Hassinger

The PT Pod Microfiber Towel is a compact 20” X 32”, 3.2 ounce towel that stuffs into its own 6” X 4.5” attached zippered pocket for storage. I can honestly say this is probably the only sewn in zipper pocket that I have actually been able to get the product back into and still be able to zip the pouch. Being as it is microfiber, it absorbs five times its weight in water, and dries faster than terry cloth towels.

It is also treated with an antimicrobial silver treatment to ward off odors and keep it fresh. There is a snap closure hanging loop, complete with name tag, that can be used to hang your towel for drying, or for attaching the towel to your hunting pack or even jacket. These towels come in Moss, OG Green, Khaki, Mocha and Cobalt.

Ok, so it is a towel, plus it can be used for so much more! I keep one attached to my hunting pack to be used as: a lap blanket on cool mornings, easy drying on my scope lenses and cameras in case of rain, the zipper pouch can be used to hold keys, license or other items securely, a scarf to keep your neck warm as well as being used to dry anything. The name tag makes this towel perfect for sending off to camp with kids, with good hopes of it coming back home.

The Ultra Compact Microfiber Towel comes in 2 sizes: large 30” X 50” and extra large 35” X 50”. The color selection of these towels are; Khaki, Mocha, Moss, Cobalt, OG Green and Terra Cotta. The advanced material of these towels makes it possible for them to absorb more moisture while they dry faster. These towels can absorb 5 times its weight in water and dry quickly. The antimicrobial silver treatment keeps the towels smelling fresh by warding off bacteria that cause odors. The towels come with a hanging loop, which works great for hanging out to dry or hanging in our camper. There is also a convenient zipper pouch that can be used for carrying the towel and toiletries to the shower house.

On our recent trip I packed the Ultra Compact Microfiber Towel for myself, while I took our regular terry cloth towels for my husband. During our morning walk to the shower house, everything I needed, including the towel was inside the small zippered pouch that came with the towel. My husband carried a much larger carry on type bag, to store his towels. By the end of the 3 week trip, my towels still smelled fresh, while his were getting a very distinct musty smell to them. I used one to dry my hair with, and it helped wick most of the dampness out so my hair dried quicker.

Other uses for these multipurpose towels could include; light blanket, body wrap, scarf or head wrap, padding for a seat, or even as a picnic blanket. With time and use, I am sure to find many more uses for this unique towel. If you travel and spend time in the outdoors, or are sending your child off to camp, these towels would make a great addition to you equipment. Actually any activity that you would need to shower or dry off, these towels would work wonderful for.

The MSRP of the PT Pod Microfiber Towel is $19.95 and the Ultra Compact Microfiber Towel is $24.95. Both of these products can be purchased at https://www.mcnett.com/outgo.

D2W Base Camp Holding Tank Deoderizer

28 11 2014

d2dMy husband and I recently trekked 4000 miles round trip, across the United States and Canada, to spend 3 weeks scouting and hunting for bears. We lived in our toy-hauler trailer for the duration of the trip. Since we were not staying in campgrounds along the way to utilize their dump stations, our holding tank had the potential to get very ripe, scent wise!

The D2D Base Camp Holding Tank Deodorizer & Cleaner is easy to use, and keeps your camper free from sewage odors. Photo: D2D

Photo: D2D

D2W had sent out their Base Camp Holding Tank Deodorizer + Cleaner. This treatment system treats both the black & grey water tanks. This formaldehyde free Bio-engineered Enzyme ScentPrevent technology eliminates odors, breaks down waste and is biodegradable. It comes in a convenient 16 ounce bottle which can provide up to 16 treatments of your tank. This deodorizer and cleaner is also good for portable and marine toilets. Each mL of treatment contains 67 million colony forming units.
I started the treatment process prior to our departure. It took just 4 ounces per 5 gallons at start up, and then I followed up with 2 ounces per 5 gallons for each of the next 3 weeks.

Anyone who has ever traveled in an RV or travel trailer, that did not have the holding tank treated, can attest to the fact that after a week of hot days, the smell could become unbearable. I can happily report, that never happened!
With 2 of us living in an area of just 7’ X 14’, foul odors coming from our small bathroom could have ruined the trip.

We had days where the temperatures topped out at 90+ degrees and days that the temperatures would dip down into the 30’s with snow. The D2W Guide Gear Base Camp Holding Tank Deodorizer + Cleaner worked throughout it all.

Since I was hunting and trying to stay scent free, if odors from our holding tank had invaded our trailer, the smells would have permeated my hunting gear. Trusting Dead Down Wind to keep you scent free while hunting, you can now trust them in your camper as well. Without going into graphic detail, my husband reported that everything was broke down when the tank was emptied.

The MSRP for this product is $8.99 and is proudly made In the USA. The D2W Base Camp Holding Tank Deodorizer + Cleaner is available online at http://www.deaddownwind.com/store/department/d2w-guide-gear-10009.cfm.

Grapple Your Gear with Gear Grappler

7 04 2014

gear grappler logoDo you get frustrated when you drop items out of your tree stand? I know I do. I admit to being clumsy.

Gear Grappler by Simpson Outdoors

If you tend to drop items from your stand then this item is for you. The Gear Grappler by Simpson Outdoors is a multi-function hunting and tree stand accessory.

You will not believe what they have managed to fit into this small compact unit, that weighs only 7 ounces. Let’s start with the 30 foot 550 paracord rope. Paracord is used for many things out in the woods including; pull up rope for your gun/bow/pack, clothesline, tie stuff to your pack, tie up a tarp for emergency shelter, use to make a splint or a sling, use as a tourniquet or a multitude of other things.

Couple it with the 4 1/2″ long, 1 1/2″ wide, nylon Gear Grappler and you can pull up dropped items with ease. The Grappler has 3 stainless steel grappling hooks that rotate individually into multiple positions, including folding flat for easy storage. There are also three rare earth magnets embedded into the sides of the unit, rated to lift 3.3 pounds, and a larger rare earth magnet on the bottom of the unit that can lift 5.5 pounds. No more having to climb down to retrieve your dropped arrows, knives, saws and calls. Use the grappling hooks to snare your dropped gloves, hats, quivers or even just leave your backpack on the ground for retrieval later. Do you have one limb that is in your way, and you just can’t reach it? Throw the Grappler over it to pull it out of the line of view. Tie the paracord around your tree to have an instant access hanger for your bow or pack.

There is still more! Inside the Gear Grappler is waterproof storage that contains strike anywhere matches and cotton balls. Use this to start a fire or toss a small bit of the cotton to determine wind direction. My backpack was easy to latch onto to, and lifted just as easily! Photo: Diane Hassinger

When I crawled up into my tree stand, I attached my gun to the rope and pulled it up after I was settled. I had deliberately left my backpack on the ground to see how hard it would be to snag and lift it. It took me only a moment to catch the strap and have my pack lifting off the ground. Of course I dropped my glove a couple of times, and a knife, on purpose just to play. It almost felt like a fishing game. Okay, time to get serious. I tied the cord around the tree and opened up one of the hooks to hang my back pack. I need to get back to hunting, that is the only way I can try using it as a deer drag too.

Hi Mountain Seasonings

7 04 2014

hi mountain seasoningHi Mountain Seasonings makes a complete line of seasonings for cooking and processing meats. I tested the Prairie Sage Breakfast Sausage Seasoning mix for sausage, Deer Steak Seasoning, Venison Rub and Alaskan Salmon Seasoning. According to the Hi Mountain Seasoning website, “Our Western Style Line of seasonings stand alone-pure spices-not extracted, perfect for any dish. The versatility of these western seasonings is amazing.”

The Western Style Deer Steak Seasoning is an authentic Wyoming recipe. It can be used as seasoning while cooking, or at the table. I tried this out on a neck roast that I cut down into chunks for pan frying. At this point I was just interested in the taste, since neck roast are usually tough and chewy. I pre-seasoned the meat with the Deer Steak Seasoning, and let the seasoned meat sit for 30 minutes. I heated my skillet and melted some butter into it. Within a few minutes I was tossing in the chucks, adding onions, garlic and some pepper. I prefer not to over cook any meat, but especially venison. I served the steak chunks to my family and to my surprise-it was so very tender! We were amazed that the neck roast turned out so tender and delicious! The only thing different was the Deer Steak Seasoning. I tried again a few nights later with the same results! Neck roasts may never be roasted again with Hi Mountain Seasonings in the house!

The Alaskan Salmon Seasoning tastes a lot like what I mix up for my salmon; lemon and dill. My family really enjoys oven fried fish, and this seasoning works perfectly to mix into my mayonnaise mixture. I have since used it not only on salmon, but also on Florida caught yellow tail and hogfish. It is so versatile, it enhances the flavor of them all. While the seasoning is best on fresh caught fish, it also works well with frozen.

The Venison Rub worked just as well on our venison roasts, just rub the seasoning in, let sit 30 minutes and continue to cook as desired. I proceeded to slow cook the roast with potatoes, carrots and onions. It was wonderful! The rub seasoned both the meat and also imparted a great flavor into the vegetables.

Now the biggest surprise came when we made whole hog sausage from a couple of wild boars. We seasoned part of the sausage with our normal seasoning mix, which is heavy on sage and pepper. The rest we used the Hi Mountain Prairie Sage Breakfast Sausage Seasoning, each box

includes 2 packages that each use 12 pounds of ground pork. As is our normal routine, we cook whatever we are butchering to munch on. We had some of both varieties. The results were unanimous; the Hi Mountain Seasonings won! The flavor was still heavy with sage, but there was a slight heat that made the flavor come alive! We have since had sausage patties, sausage biscuits and gravy, and browned and crumbled into eggs. I only have one thing to say; I need to shoot more hogs!

All of the Hi Mountain Seasonings can be purchased at http://www.himtnjerky.com/. The MSRP of the seasonings I used are: Prairie Sage Breakfast Sausage Seasoning $7.99, Western Style Deer Steak Seasoning 3.5 ounce bottle $3.99, Western Style Alaskan Salmon Seasoning 3.5 ounce bottle $3.99, and the New Western Style Venison Rub 11 ounce bottle is $8.99. Look for some double duty tips for their seasonings at http://himtnjerky.com/tips.html.

I have included a couple of the recipes I used with these seasonings, both are my families favorites!

Sausage Gravy and Biscuits

Sausage Biscuit and Gravy! We used Prairie Sage Breakfast Sausage Seasoning in the wild boar sausage. Photo: Diane Hassinger

1 pound pork sausage-bulk seasoned with Hi-Mountain Prairie Sage Blend Breakfast Sausage
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
Sea salt\ black pepper-to taste
Biscuits-hot from the oven

Heat up a skillet over medium to high heat, add the sausage and break into bits with a spatula. Cook until all of the meat is crumbled and browned the whole way through. Add the flour, and stir constantly until dissolved, about 1 minute. Stir in the milk. Simmer, stirring frequently, until the gravy is very thick. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve with fresh hot biscuits, right out of the oven.

Oven Fried Fish

1 pound fresh fish fillets-deboned
Mayonnaise-about ½ to ¾ cup
Hi Mountain Seasoning-Western Style Alaskan Salmon
Sea salt\ black pepper-to taste
Corn Flakes-Crushed

Preheat oven to 375º.  Mix seasonings and mayonnaise in a bowl. Crush corn flakes into another bowl. Coat all sides of the fish fillet with mayonnaise mixture and then roll in the corn flakes to coat.  Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets. The corn flakes should be just starting to brown. Fish oven fried this way is good served as a fillet or on bun for a great fish sandwich. Our family even likes this fish reheated for left overs.
