While I was at the SHOT Show this year, I noticed a booth for Woolpower. They had a vest hanging, and I was immediately drawn to it. I love wearing wool during our cold winters, and this vest could be worn not only for hunting and fishing, but for everyday wear. I love hunting clothes that do double duty!

fit, comfort and attractive appearance.
There are several points of information that I learned from the Woolpower website (http://www.woolpowerus.com/woolwise/wool-care/) . Did you know that:
- Merino Sheep produce exceptionally fine and crimpy wool fibers that provide extraordinary insulation properties by trapping air.
- Wool provides warmth even when moist.
- Wool wicks away moisture.
- Wool is easy to care for and self cleaning. The creatine in the wool breaks down the smelly bacteria’s from the skin.
- Wool needs only infrequent washing, and can be aired out in humid weather.
- Treated wool can be machine washed. The Vest 400 can be machine washed at º140 and machine tumbled dried on low heat.
- The thickness of the wool fiber is measured in Microns. The finer the wool fiber, the softer the feel, and on the opposite side, the coarser the fiber the more it is perceived as itchy or scratchy.
I started out just wearing this vest for last season hunting, and I loved it. Our late season can throw almost anything at you weather wise; cold, hot, wet, dry, snow, ice or rain. With this as a mid-layer, and appropriate base and outer layers. I was comfortable with what ever Mother Nature sent my way. After our season ended, I found myself reluctant to put the vest away till next fall, so instead I started wearing it for-EVERYTHING! From grocery shopping to early trout fishing, this vest became my favorite go to clothing. I even wore it out to dinner several times and got complimented on it each and every time. When I did reluctantly pack the vest away for summer, I put it with clothing that I bring out early in the Fall. I have full intentions on using this vest for everything once again when the weather cools. In fact, I need to add the grey and black vests to my wardrobe!
The vest is available in sizes XXS all the way up to 3XL and in colors; Black, Green, Grey and Navy. The MSRP of the Woolpower Merino Wool Vest is $145.00 and is available from http://www.woolpowerus.com/product/vest-400/. On their website, is an interesting booklet on cold and staying warm in the cold. I learned alot about wool and layering, including some mistakes I had made in the past.
